What does digital citizenship mean to you?
As the world of technology and social media continues to expand, parents especially need to pay attention to raising respectful digital citizens.
From the moment our kids are old enough to understand, they are taught about manners, kindness, respect for others, and proper etiquette to their elders. Many of us teach our children to treat others as we want to be treated.
It truly should be no different online.
I believe if you bring up your child with a foundation of empathy and compassion for others offline, they hopefully will bring this to their virtual lives too. If they are a bully in the playground — it is probably likely they will carry it into their keystrokes. Sometimes parents are aware that there is an issue and it hasn’t been addressed yet – it needs to be — immediately.
